CKSO Radio and Television played a huge part in our family.  My dad started with CKSO Radio post war 1945 and left in 1955 when he started a television repair business, "Sudbury Television Electronics" with Don Steele.  At CKSO TV he was engineer and operator.  He and Bill Martindale and others maintained the equipment and transmitter that was then on Fourth Avenue near his house on Bancroft drive.  He worked split shift as the station was on air only in the morning and in the later part of the afternoon.  His pay was $10.00 per week and he still has his first pay, a $10.00 bill!

My Mom started at CKSO in 1948.  She retired after 38 years of dedicated service.  Like my Dad, she started before CKSO TV and CKSO FM signed on.  There was just CKSO AM Radio then.  She worked her way up the ranks and earned the distinction of being the first female General Manager.

I enjoyed my first summer at the station when I was just 16 as an office boy.  My brother Jim was an FM announcer and operator.  I became an FM operator when I was 17.  As a part-time job, I would be able to work 12 months of the year!
