Read Bill's Biography here!

My name is Bill Acheson and I was a radio announcer at CKSO for about a year and a half starting about 1946. I wrote commercials - sometimes 20-30 a day. I also had a program called Melody Theatre which I also wrote. It was a music program featuring the writers of contemporary music of the day and it was very well received. I also wrote two plays; my good friend, Jack Coleman, who also worked at CKSO for a short time, wrote two plays, and they were billed as Four by Two for airing.

My late wife, Judy Acheson (nee Bainard) also worked at CKSO and was head of the women's department. CKSO was where we met and courted and we got married in June 1947. Of course at that time married couples were not allowed to work at the same location, so she left CKSO in spring 1947. She was a fire cracker, though, writing all her own material for the women's show, reading the news, writing commercials and she was only 18!

I am 91 years old now, but still have many fond memories of my experiences at CKSO. My friend Jack Coleman is also still living and is in New Jersey, USA. I enjoyed the opportunities I had for using my creativity and writing skills. We were all young people in the business then, and had many memorable times.

Sincerely,
Bill Acheson
